Totally agree with you to brown them & add them to stew while it cooks for enhanced flavour ( rather than at the end).
Often the most flavorful cuts are some of the toughest, even chuck roast and slow cooker works real well on those cuts as long as you let it cook the full duration.

I do want to add I used Australian grass fed beef stew meat. Do you think the cooking time will need to be increased since it’ll be cold?
